Christie Spurling MBE FRSA
Hello! I am Christie Spurling and I am Founder and CEO of Manchester based youth charity N-Gage. I am passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.
I was permanently excluded from secondary school and placed in a residential unit which led complete disengagement from education and many struggles in later life until I discovered an ability and passion for working with young people.
I qualified as a youth worker and have worked as a Team Leader in a residential unit for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, as a Behaviour Support Worker for the Local Education Authority, and also as a church-based youth worker. I then set up my charity N-Gage in 2006.
Outside of work I’m a petrol-head and keen drummer. I’m married to the lovely Jo and we have two amazing daughters.
Nick Coleman
I joined N-Gage in November 2015 as a Youth Inclusion Manager working primarily on a new project in North Manchester. Leading a team of up to 15 sessional workers we collectively work in the region of 300 children and young people each year. Over the past few years, I have taken up the role of Head of Community Engagement and Funding, whilst still delivering some face-to-face youth work in schools and our very popular holiday play schemes.
Outside of N-Gage, I love spending time with my family and am a sports fanatic. I run 3 times a week and enter as many events as time allows, up to and including half marathon distance. One day I would love to take on the London Marathon.
Becky Mottershead
- Schools Programme Lead
I first started working with young people through teaching music and singing, and my love of supporting and helping young people developed from there. Alongside my BA (Hons) degree in Musical Theatre, I have a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Early Learning, a Level 2 certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and I am consistently developing my knowledge and awareness through regular CPD training and courses. I have a wide range of experience working with young people from nursery age to teenagers in a variety of settings including schools and youth groups.
I am the Schools Programme Lead at N-Gage and I spend most of my time working in different schools throughout Manchester leading one-to-one mentoring sessions with students.
Rachael Fell
- Youth Inclusion Manager
Hi I’m Rachael, the Youth Inclusion Manager for N-Gage! My passion for working with young people started six years ago when I started volunteering for a youth mental health charity, which grew into a career that I love. Experiencing first hand the challenges that young people face has led me to be passionate about making change- informed by lived experience. Outside of work I love rock climbing, being a bedroom DJ and walking in the Lake District, where I’m from.
I’m excited to bring my experience and skills to N-Gages’ existing and upcoming projects to help young people reach their full potential.
Kelli Gentempo
- Admin Manager
I am excited to join the office team at N-Gage and join a community of people dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of young people. I was born in the Shropshire area, but moved to America as a child and completed the majority of my education there, earning a university degree in History, before returning to the UK. I look forward to supporting the team in an administrative role and helping to ensure a smooth running of operations.
Business Support
To support all the amazing work that the N-Gage team does, there is a team of business support
staff who ensure the smooth running of operations for the Charity. From IT to payroll, to website development and social media, to finance and general admin support, a team of experienced personnel (currently including Dev Lunsford, Rachel Farrell, Dave Pearce, Becky Kennedy, Marcia Ellison, Callum Marks, Carly Phillips) undertake a variety of tasks to organise and support N-Gage and their mission.
